Pagliarese was een van de grote namen in Chianti, maar het domein werd opgekocht door de eigenaars van Fèlsina en de druiven verdwenen in de wijnen van Fèlsina. Recent werd besloten om deze historische naam terug in ere te herstellen. De druiven worden enkel geoogst in de originele wijngaarden van het vroegere wijngoed en op dezelfde wijze gevinifieerd als die van Fèlsina. De wijnen zijn wat vergelijkbaar qua karakter, met dat verschil dat hier behalve Sangiovese ook 5% Canaiolo en 5% Mammolo in de blend zit. De wijn gelijkt qua stijl ook wel wat op Fèlsina, maar is misschien wat toegankelijker in de jonge jaren.

Today, 2016 exudes a classic sense of austerity that needs time to resolve. A range of earthy and savory notes give the 2016 its distinct personality." 91/100

Wine Advocate (Monica Larner): “The 2016 Chianti Classico by Pagliarese is an elegantly trimmed down red wine with delicate aromas of wild berry, red cherry, cassis and spice. Those fruit tones are generously and seamlessly integrated within the mid-weight body of the wine. As you should expect from Sangiovese (blended in this case with 10% Canaiolo and Mammolo), you get a healthy dose of balanced acidity on the easygoing finish. Some 40,000 bottles were made.” 88/100

The distinctly classic-leaning approach that, among other things, emphasizes mid-weight structure and the use of Canaiolo and Mammolo as complements to Sangiovese stands quite apart from the more robust 100% Sangiovese Chianti Classicos at Fèlsina. The Chianti Classico in particular is of note for its quality, pedigree and budget-friendly price."
