Bentu Luna Vernaccia 2021

This Vernaccia Igt Isola dei Nuraghi comes from a small vineyard on the coast of Oristano in western Sardinia.
At barely 5 metres above sea level and in loose, sandy soil with a touch of clay, Vermentino thrives here in a typical Mediterranean climate. Mild winters, little rainfall and hot, dry summers that are quenched by a severe mistral or fresh sea breeze. This contributes to the mineral character of the grapes.
After a slow and careful destemming of the bunches, spontaneous fermentation starts in terracotta amphorae. At 2/3 of the fermentation we proceed to a careful and precise pressing of the fermenting must. At the end of the fermentation we continue with batonnage, which allows to give body and volume to the wine .
The Isola dei Nuraghi ‘V’ has an intense nose with echoes of apple peel. That fresh apple flavour creates a juicy taste with a long finish. Captivating wine to share.
