Domaine Jérôme Galeyrand Marsannay Blanc Les Champs Perdrix Vignoy 2022

Product Details

Vignois is a vineyard in Brochon on an eastern slope. This vineyard, which will fall under the AOP Fixin from 2026, was replanted in 2016 with absolutely top-notch material and it shows!

Jasper Morris MW: Young vines in Brochon, a massal selection from Champs Perdrix, which includes chardonnay ‘rose’. A little fuller in colour with a fine ripe orchard fruit and some more exotic touches. Cream and coconut from the wood. Quite an interesting wine, probably to drink young.” ***

Vinous: The 2022 Marsannay Les Champs Perdrix emerges from a site that was replanted in 2016 with three selections of Chardonnay and a dollop of Aligoté. Readers will find a white of nuance and class that is immediately appealing. Lemon Peel, dried herbs, sage, mint and white pepper open first, with a kick of Aligoté charachter that appears on the finish. I especially admire its mineral/savory intensity ” 92/100

William Kelley: “Jérôme Galeyrand is an exciting producer whose emphasis is on interesting old massal selections of Pinot Noir. As I’ve written before, there are no grands or premiers crus at this address; but there are plenty of ancient vines in nicely situated communal lieux-dits in the Côte de Nuits. That’s exemplified by the fact that the domaine’s finest and indeed emblematic wine is not from Gevrey-Chambertin or even Fixin, but rather his Côte de Nuits-Villages Les Rétraits. Farming is organic, with cultivated soils and canopies hedged high, at 1.60 meters. Galeyrand uses appreciable percentages of whole clusters, pressing with a manual basket press (“cheaper and better” than the alternatives, he contends—and I concur), and his touch with new oak is decidedly light. The result is beautifully perfumed, sensual wines that offer broad and immensely pleasurable drinking windows, frequently punching well above their weight in the appellation hierarchy.”
