Domaine Philippe Colin Chassagne-Montrachet Champs de Morjot 2022
Product Details
Merk: Philippe Colin

Pinot Noir has been almost completely replaced by the more lucrative Chardonnay in recent decades, but red Chassagne used to be highly sought after. Only a handful of winemakers still produce red wine in this commune. Philippe Colin makes a very nice wine here that, in terms of its aromas of red berry and cranberry, is perhaps somewhat reminiscent of the Côte de Nuits. This comes from the vineyard “Champ de Morjot”, located on the south side of the commune, near Morgeot. The wine matures in partly new oak barrels. Great value for money here!

Inside Burgundy Jasper Morris MW: “A little deeper in colour, ruby purple. The bouquet shows a mild reduction. There is considerable weight of fruit at the back of the palate, and certainly more structure, both tannins and acidity. Wait a while longer for this than the Santenay, but it is worth having in the cellar. 7 x 500 litre barrels made. Drink from 2025-2030.” 87-90/100

William Kelley: “This tasting was very impressive indeed, and I encourage readers to seek out these wines. Clearly, the domaine flies somewhat under the radar when one considers the quality to be found in the bottle.”
