Domaine des Croix Beaune 2022
Domaine des Croix Beaune 2022
I have been following this estate for years and am very impressed by the particular finesse and purity David Croix manages to bring to his wines. After all, he is also the man who managed to bring the wines of Camille Giroud back to top level, and at Roulot, too, his input was invaluable. From now on, all his attention will be exclusively on his own estate. Is he the man to give the superb yet somewhat misunderstood terroirs of Beaune back the renommée they deserve? By the looks of it, he is doing plenty of that! Beaune was hardly touched by the spring frost and here, the 2021s are absolutely stunning!
Jasper Morris MW: “The Beaune shows a very opulent purple colour with a nose to match. It has been racked out of wood because about 80% was in a new foudre that has marked the wine a little too much. Fortunately david had the sense to react in time, so this should all settle down and the wood tannins soften. A cautious rating for now.” ***
