"The 2017 Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru is lucid silver in hue. The bouquet needed 10–15 minutes' aeration, eventually revealing enticing scents of Granny Smith apples, greengage, gunflint and dewy meadow, all delivered with impressive precision. The palate is taut and fresh with superb penetration on the entry. Lovely attack here. Quintessentially 2017, with that much-needed bite on the finish that is missing from many 2018s. A brand-new estate (first wine in 2013) in Chablis, with vineyards in top locations. Beautifully vinified, pure wines—rich and full-bodied yet dry, with a long, mineral finish. Élodie’s ambition is high, and the first results are already spectacular! In the coming years, additional Premier Cru and even Grand Cru wines will be introduced. Tasted alongside wines from highly reputed estates, theirs more than hold their own—to say the least! The quality level these young winemakers have achieved in just two years is truly remarkable—an exceptional estate!
Premier Cru "Fourchaume" is a quintessential Chablis—very powerful, yet dry, with a floral and fruity bouquet and a firm, exceptionally long mineral finish. It will continue to develop for many years.
