Domaine Michel Noëllat Chambolle Musigny 2021

Beautiful Chambolle from plots in “Les Fouchères, “Aux Combottes”, Aux Echanges” and “Les Maladières”, partly premier cru. The grapes from 30-year-old vines are completely de-stemmed. Then follows a cold maceration of 3-5 days and fermentation of 18-20 days in temperature-controlled inox cuves. The wine then matures for a further 16 months in oak barrels, 30% new. It is a fine, fragrant, but also full-bodied , simply delicious Chambolle.

Inside Burgundy: “Aux Combottes is part 1er cru and that bit will be made separately in 2022 along with a new domaine 1er Cru, details to be advised. Mid red purple. Just a little wild on the nose. 30% new wood, helps build the mid-palate balance. A slight banana note. Otherwise the wine is clean and pure.” 88-90/100
