Bourgogne Aligoté "Aligotay" is the entry-level cuvée, blending grapes from various vineyards. Jérôme is a member of "Les Aligoteurs," an association dedicated to reviving appreciation for this often-underestimated grape. Aligoté is more resilient to climate change and retains its acidity better than Chardonnay. When treated with care and respect, recent vintages have ranged from excellent to spectacular. In addition to Aligotay, the domaine produces four other cuvées, each from a distinct terroir, offering unique aromatic and flavor profiles – a fascinating experience!

Domaine Jérôme Galeyrand, located in Brochon, Gevrey-Chambertin, produces Burgundy wines on 5.2 hectares, including appellations like Gevrey-Chambertin, Fixin, Marsannay, and Côte de Nuits. The estate practices organic and biodynamic farming, respecting the terroir and lunar cycles, with minimal use of natural treatments. Old vines are replaced if they do not meet high-quality standards. No industrial yeast or additives are used during winemaking, ensuring pure wines that faithfully reflect the terroir. The domaine is working towards AB certification.

"Jérôme Galeyrand is an exciting producer whose emphasis is on interesting old massal selections of Pinot Noir. As I've written before, there are no grands or premiers crus at this address; but there are plenty of ancient vines in nicely situated communal lieux-dits in the Côte de Nuits. That's exemplified by the fact that the domaine's finest and indeed emblematic wine is not from Gevrey-Chambertin or even Fixin, but rather his Côte de Nuits-Villages Les Rétraits. Farming is organic, with cultivated soils and canopies hedged high, at 1.60 meters. Galeyrand uses appreciable percentages of whole clusters, pressing with a manual basket press ("cheaper and better" than the alternatives, he contends—and I concur), and his touch with new oak is decidedly light. The result is beautifully perfumed, sensual wines that offer broad and immensely pleasurable drinking windows, frequently punching well above their weight in the appellation hierarchy." RP
