"The 2020 Chianti Classico Vigna Cavarchione is positively stellar in 2020. Ample and rich, yet with plenty of Istine classicism, the Cavarchione has all the potential to be one of the wines of this very young vintage. All the elements come together effortlessly. Black cherry, plum, sage, lavender, licorice and incense biuld over time, filling out the layers nicely. The complexity here is just unreal." Vinous

The Cavarchione vineyard covers 6 hectares and is located in Gaiole near the hamlet of Vertine, at an altitude of 420 metres on an easterly orientation. The soil is quite classic, with mainly galestro and also alberese. Again, it is a very high-quality vineyard, which is already immediately apparent, despite the relatively young vines on average. The wine ferments in stainless steel cuves at a maximum temperature of 30°C with regular remontages (pumping over). The skin soaking lasts up to 45 days! Afterwards, the wine goes into 10 hl to 40 hl Austrian oak barrels from Stockinger or Pauscha. Everything is put on quality here! Vigna Cavarchione gives a powerful and full-flavoured, particularly beautiful Chianti that still needs some time to unfold all its qualities. Istine is not very well known yet, but it is clearly a top domain!
