65% Nebbiolo, 15% Croatina, 10% Vespolina and 10% Uva Rara from vineyards in Valdengo and Cerreto Castello, rigorous selection of grapes, fermentation and maturation only in steel cuve.

Tenute Vercellino was founded in 2020 when brothers Lorenzo and Giuli took over the family vineyard and restored the beautiful vaulted brick cellars beneath their house, preparing for their first harvest.

Lorenzo, a trained oenologist, works the vineyards with help from a local resident, Luigi, while Giuli, a veterinarian, uses horses to assist in managing the land. The poor, sandy soils naturally limit vine growth, but their hard work creates strong, resilient plants. Lorenzo works alone in the cellar, with no outside consultants. The wines reflect his dedication and clear vision.

Vercellino is the only producer in Valdengo. Their vineyards sit on steep terraces, facing south over rice fields toward Monferrato. The vines were planted by their grandfather and father. In 2021, they leased a second, established vineyard in nearby Cerreto Castello and replanted another in Lessona, the only one where Lorenzo uses a small tractor. In total, they farm 2 hectares with great care for the environment.

Dark and pliant, the 2020 is laced with black cherry, sage, lavender, mint and licorice. This deep, imposing Nebbiolo packs a pretty serious punch. Impressive."
