RP: “A blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre, the 2018 Vinsobres features an intriguing mix of herbal, floral and fruity notes on the nose, with scents ranging from bay leaf and lavender to violets and purple raspberries. It’s medium to full-bodied, silky and fine on the palate, with a finishing touch of licorice. It’s a great debut—showing complexity and elegance, not raw power—from the property’s new owner, Louis Barruol of Château Saint-Cosme in Gigondas..” 91/100

Daily Mail (Matthew Jukes): “This is the very first vintage release of this heroic red wine from world-famous winemaker Louis Barruol. With an amazingly complex flavour and perfct balance, every element is in it’s place and nothing is forced or over the top. This is a truly epic Rhône.”

Wine spectator: “Features a core of gently steeped plum and boysenberry fruit, laced with a mouthwatering anise note andgilded with sandalwood and violet hints throughout. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre.” 91/100

Jeb Dunnuck: “The 2018 Vinsobres comes from an estate owned by Louis Barruol (of Château de Saint Cosme in Gigondas) and checks in as a blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre, all from a single parcel just outside de village of Vinsobres. Revealing a deep purple, translucent hue as well as lots of mulberry and black raspberry fruit interwoven with notes of ground pepper, violets and game, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a rounded, supple, elegant texture, notable purity and outstanding length. Seeming to have one foot in the Nothern Rhône with its gamey, violet characteristics and one foot in the south with its richness and opulence on the palate, it’s a terrific, noteworthy Vinsobres to enjoy over the coming 4-6 years.” 90/100

Decanter: “There’s some interest here – it’s just a touch rustic perhaps from the ample use of stems, the tannins are a little fibrous and grainy. A good intensity of fruit however, bright, juicy and fresh. Tannins are pretty fierce, so give it a year or two to settle. There’s a whiff of Provençale herbs and oregano with a saline finish. Alcohol is high, but overall the effect is balanced. A solid start. In organic conversion, old vines onlimestone marls. The first vintage since this estate was bought by Louis Barruol of Château deSaint-Cosme.” 90/100
