Épineuil is located in the northernmost part of Burgundy. Dominique Gruhier owns approximately 20 hectares here, cultivated biodynamically. The vineyards are situated on steep slopes, with inclines of up to 45%, and have an orientation ranging from east to due south. The terroir consists primarily of clay and limestone, with the renowned Kimmeridgian limestone layer, also found in nearby Chablis, lying beneath the surface. These wines are far from being light or delicate; instead, they are robust, relatively deep-colored Pinot Noirs with ample body and length, offering a distinctive aroma and flavor profile compared to those from the Côte d’Or.
