Product Details

“Croix Violettes” is gewoonweg een topterroir, maar gelegen in Brochon, wordt de wijn verkocht als Côte de Nuits Villages. Een goede zaak voor de liefhebber, want deze behoort elk jaar tot de beste uit de kelder, een wijn die absoluut niet misstaat tussen vele premier en zelfs Grand Cru’s!

The Burgundy Report (Bill Nanson): “ The vines here were planted between 1936 and 1939 – they always deliver millerande bunches. Three-quarters of the whole-clusters were retained in the fermentation. Deeply coloured. Dark fruit on the round nose, some whole-cluster aromatic but it’s nicely fresh too. There’s fresh, mouth-watering flavour and a growing intensity. Some minerality and a faint tannin drag to the texture. Super length, simply a brilliant wine! “

Wine Advocate (Neal Martin): “The 2014 Côtes de Nuits Villages les Croix Violettes includes two-thirds whole bunch fruit. It was showing some reduction on the nose, though underneath there are some enticing broody, dark plum and blueberry fruit, slightly smoky and earthy in character. The palate is medium-bodied, quite compact, much more backward than Laurent Fournier’s Marsannay 2014s, and I agree with him that it needs a second winter in barrel. It has great potential though — impressive structure and density.” 87-89/100
