Saint-Urbain is Fournier’s “base” cuvée and nicely portrays the Marsannay appellation. A beautiful, deep colour, a lovely bouquet of red and black fruit, an elegant full-bodied palate and nice finish.
RP: “The 2014 Marsannay Cuvée St Urbain contains 20% to 25% whole bunch fruit and it was aged for 12 months in large barrels before being transferred to concrete tank. It has a fresh bouquet of red berries and crushed strawberries, nothing spectacular, but detailed and pretty. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, notes of dark plums and raspberries, but I feel it lacks a bit of substance towards the finish, maybe just a touch of austerity.”
