Waar we eertijds deze toch wel de iets mindere van Laurent’s drie toekomstige premier cru’s vonden, manifesteert Ez Chezots zich sinds 2015 elk jaar als kandidaad voor de titel! In tegenstelling tot wat Neal Martin hieronder schrijft, behoudt Laurent wel deze percelen, maar er is wel een nieuwe aankoop geweest in Es Chezots van oudere stokken en dat komt in de blend vanaf 2018. Bij de aankoop hoort ook het perceel aan de top met een 100% “Ostrea acuminata” kalk-terroir en dat wordt beplant met Chardonnay. We kunnen dus binnen enkele jaren ook een witte Ez Chezots verwachten!
Neal Martin (Vinous): “The 2017 Marsannay Es Chezots will be the final vintage from Fournier’s original vines. Next year it will come from a parcel at the top of the vineyard. It has the most extrovert bouquet from Fournier, featuring blueberry, hints of cassis and potent floral scents. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, taut tannin, and there is impressive depth here. The finish is quite linear and sinewy yet retains control throughout. Plenty of potential, but it needs time.” 90-92/100
