Domaine Mélaric Saumur Clos de la Cerisaie 2020 magnum
Domaine Mélaric is a young estate, established in 2006, with some top vineyards on the limestone soils in Saumur, near Puy Notre Dame. Aymeric and Mélanie work entirely according to the principles of natural wine without additives, using natural yeasts, ageing in wood and tanks, no filtering, and minimal amounts of sulfites at bottling. Their wines are particularly pure in terms of fruit and possess a delightful finesse.
The Clos de la Cerisaie vineyard is situated on an eastern slope at an altitude of about 75 meters, with a soil composition of clay-loam soil on white tufa stone. The wine, made from 100% Chenin Blanc grapes from 55-year-old vines, is aged for 2 years in wooden barrels, 10% new. Afterward, it spends another 4 months in tanks before being bottled without filtration, containing only a minimal 15-20mg per liter of sulfites.
