Burghound: “(From 2 parcels of vines – one of 60+ year old vines and the other from 30+ year old vines). A strikingly fresh and ripe array is composed by notes of various red berries, earth and a pretty floral wisp. The very round, supple and generously proportioned flavors deliver unusually good depth and lenght on the ever-so-mildly rustic finale. This easily transcends its normal level of quality, indeed to the point that it’s potentially one of the best examples of the vineyard that I have had and I especially like the excellent persistence.” 90-93/100

The Wine Advocate (Neal Martin): “The 2015 Beaune 1er Cru les Epenottes contains 25% whole cluster fruit. It has a very elegant and pure bouquet with vibrant red cherry and strawberry aromas, a hint of vanilla pod just in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannin. There is good body here, well-judged acidity with a touch of piquancy on the finish that is welcomed. Perhaps earlier drinking than other Beaune premier crus, nevertheless this is a well-crafted wine.” 89-91/100

The Burgundy Report: “A silky and wide nose of red fruit. More mineral and cool, the fruit slowly leaching from the gums, more fresh intensity in the mid-palate. Mouth-watering flavour, here with a little more tannin structure showing through-but velvet tannin. Will be super.”
Sarah Marsh: “This is on the border with Pommard. 1 hectare half is 79 years old and the other 45 years old.. All the vines produce well. The soil is very fine clay but deeper tha Epenots on the Pommard side. South East exposure with a light slope. 20 days maceration on skin and 20% whole bunches. 35% new Frenck oak. Deep colour and dark red fruits. The tannins are firm, but smooth. Good density in the mid palate. Quite plump, a little bit of muscle here. This should have plenty of personality.”
