Domaine de Veilloux Cheverny Argilo Blanc 2019
Domaine de Veilloux Cheverny Argilo Blanc 2019
As the name indicates, Argilo comes from clay-rich terroirs. Made from 80% Sauvignon on clay-silex and 20% Orbois (Menu Pineau) on clay-loam soils, vinified separately in steel tanks on the lees for 6 months before blending. Balanced, pleasant and interesting aroma with apples, resin, salt and minerals, very fine and rich on the palate, a wine that is all its own, both the roundness and sweetness from barrel ageing and a unique interpretation of the grapes.
Domaine de Veilloux is located a stone’s throw from the famous Château de Cheverny (the castle of Moulinsart in Tintin) and has been owned since 1994 by Michel and Sylviane Quenioux. Since the 1990s, the winemaking couple has been growing nearly 25 hectares of vines organically. Naturally, biodynamic viticulture accompanies the work in the vineyard, with infinite love and care for the life and balance of the soil.
Domaine de Veilloux grows the typical Touraine grape varieties. Sauvignon and Orbois come first, as do Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Michel and Sylviane pay great attention to biodiversity and the protection of the surrounding flora and fauna.
In the cellar, Domaine de Veilloux uses natural, traditional vinification methods to enhance preserve the expression of the terroir. No selected yeasts are used and very little sulphur is added. It is a method that has more than proven, as the estate’s wines are so representative of the terroir of Cheverny.
