Domaine des Bosquets Gigondas 2015 magnum
The Gigondas “classique” is a blend of the various plots the estate owns in “climats” such as Les Hautes Garrigues, Les Routes, Les Plantes, Les Bosquets and Jasio. That gives a blend of around 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 5% each Mourvèdre and Cinsault. It’s a magnificent, powerful, creamy, varietal wine that’s best forgotten in the peak years anyway and can keep for at least 15 years. On the other hand, the 2013 is already truly delectable…!
Vinous (Josh Raynolds): “Vivid ruby. Highly perfumed red fruit, potpourri and peppery spice scents show very good clarity. Sappy and precise on the palate, offering sweet raspberry and floral pastille flavors and a hint of spicecake. Closes on a smoky mineral note, displaying silky tannins and strong, floral-driven persistence.” 92/100
Wine Advocate (Joe Czerwinski): “Looking at the classic cuvee, the 2015 Gigondas is a wine that readers should buy by the case. A blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and the balance Mourvèdre and Cinsault, it offers up gorgeous notes of black raspberry, fruit tart, spice and incense in a medium to full-bodied, ultra pure, seamless style that just begs to be drunk. It will keep for over a decade..” 94/100
