Domaine des Croix Corton Grand Cru Les Grèves 2021

This Grand Cru Corton Les Grèves is one of Corton’s finest and the (red) top wine of Domaines des Croix.

I have been following this estate for years and am very impressed by the particular finesse and purity David Croix manages to bring to his wines. After all, he is also the man who managed to bring the wines of Camille Giroud back to top level, and at Roulot, too, his input was invaluable. From now on, all his attention will be exclusively on his own estate. Is he the man to give the superb yet somewhat misunderstood terroirs of Beaune back the renommée they deserve? By the looks of it, he is doing plenty of that! Beaune was hardly touched by the spring frost and here, the 2021s are absolutely stunning!

Jasper Morris MW: “22% whole bunch vinification. A bright pinky purple. The 2021 Corton Grèves shows really quite an elegant nose for what can be a massive terroir. Really lovely fruit on the palate in a full fresh red berry style, which makes the raft of tannins at the back unexpected – unless you know the nature of this particular terroir. But the tannins are ripe enough and they will meld with the fruit which is extremely persistent.”
