New since 2015, this extremely confident wine is made exclusively from fruit from the oldest terraces in Castellina. Pure Sangiovese and vinified in exactly the same way as the Gagliole. We think this is one of the very finest, most refined and nuanced wines from Chianti Classico with an unusually pure, varietal, finesse-rich aroma and flavour, a fabulous expression of classic Sangiovese in Chianti Classico. Barely 2,000 bottles of this wine are made and even then only in the great years! Since 2018, it has been launched as Gran Selezione


Vinous (Antonio Galloni): “The 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Gallule is 100% Sangiovese from terraced vinyards on the original estate in Castellina. Bright and punchy, with lively acids, the 2019 is so expressive today. Even so, it needs a few years in bottle to be at its best. The purity of the fruit is striking. Red/purplish fruit, spice, mint and bloos orange are beautifully delineated. The 2019 spent 12 months in French oak, 20% new, then another 12 months in 12HL casks. It’s the first yea in which casks have been introduced. Larger format oak seems to add delination and freshness. There is so much to admire here. ” 94/100
