All grapes for this wine come from Vigna Grande, the highest vineyard of the Conca d’Oro in Panzano. Standing in this pure Galestro vineyard you look down on Rampolla, La Massa, Fontodi etc. Balisca is pure Cabernet-Sauvignon, vinified entirely in barrique, 80% new and the wine then matures for another 24 months in these barrels. Without doubt one of the most beautiful, elegant Cabernets from Tuscany, not to be missed.
Vinous (Antono Galloni): “The 2019 Balisca is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Panzano, which once again proves how magical this part of Panzano, the Conca d’Oro, is for Cabernet. Bright and vibrant, with striking intensity, the Cabernet offers a beguiling expression of varietal aromas and flavours, with a more mid-weight sense of structure that is so classiccally Tuscan. Creme de cassis, lavender, mint, gravel and blackberry are all given an extra kick of energy from bright acids and saline underpinnings that lend palpable vibrancy throughout. Impressive. The 2019 was vinified in barrique and then aged in French oak, 80% new, for 24 months, an approach that is perfectly matched to the wine. “96+/100
