The Nebbiolo grapes for this stately Barolo are harvested in mid-October. Fermentation lasts for about 25 days after which the wine matures in large 50-hectolitre barrels for 18 to 36 months. The oak comes from the Fontainebleau forest. Some 50,000 bottles are produced annually.
The color is rather dark. In the nose, cocoa and chocolate, raspberry, plum and pepper prevail. A savoury, juicy taste follows. The tannins are perfect. Ideal with slow-cooked red meat.
