Once again this year, we made our way to Verona for Vinitaly — the ultimate celebration of Italian wine. A vibrant fair where tradition and innovation meet, and where we were once again inspired, surprised, and reaffirmed in our passion for wine.

The atmosphere at the fair was, as always, unique: sunny days, though with a lingering chill in the air. The train to the fairgrounds was once again packed — a yearly ritual in itself — but all was more than made up for by the unbeatable food in Verona’s restaurants. From quick lunches between tastings to long dinners where wine and stories flowed freely — that too is Vinitaly.
As in previous years, our focus was on tasting the new vintages from our existing producers. No frantic search for novelties, but targeted tastings with trusted names like Palladino, Massolino, Le Piane (with a refreshed line-up), Maria Donata Bianchi (see our article on this producer), Dringenberg, Gagliole, Ridolfi (more on them soon), and Chiara Condello. It’s always fascinating to see how each estate evolves — some deepen their style, others dare to innovate, but quality remains the constant thread.
Yet, we also came across a few surprises, including a particularly interesting producer from the South that we’ll be evaluating in more detail soon. Sometimes, it’s those unexpected discoveries that make all the difference.
